With onamission moving from Brixham, Brixham21 contacted us regard to the project. They where assured that the project was not put in any risk by the move, but it was necessary to provide a place for the project centre of onamission. The meeting spanned over an hour, where the project was presented to them and they where given all the documentation about the project.
The action was to form a group/board, within the wider community and to include the links of groundworks. This was done by way of a meeting in the Museum and thanks is given to the museum curator.
The key stages of the project, protection and land usage are still current. We are looking for expertise in listing the industrial heritage. The bridges have an interesting spiral design, using local quarry rock and a soft morter joint. This makes them, as far as we can see, a unique interpretation of a Brunnel Bridge.
Comments where made about the name of the project and it was quite rightly pointed out that Brunnel had sadly passed away, when the GWR Brixham Line was formed. The response to these comments where that this was also true of the clifton suspension bridge and the project was named about a 'way of thinking', 'the Brunnel way' and it was to try and offer inspiration to the next generation and prompts within society which allowed the next generation to be inspired and to go to the heritage centre to broaden this knowledge.
It was also pointed out the the park and xyz complementary plans, could provide an income to the heritage centre and also the Battery Heritage site. Also the need for good signage along the walk way to and colour and depth to the 'treasure trail' route that the Brunnel way would form. This would include a quest-guide, to help direct and make come to life the Brixham railway track.
The comments from Groundworks where both supportive and valued. We look forward to collaborating with the in the future.

Welcome to the Brunel Project
This is the blog for the brixham railway project. There is a desparate need for a safe route between Brixham and Churstons attractions. This was resolved generations before by a railway track, nice and wide broad gauge. This track lays like a quiet ghost, whilst people risk their lives on narrow country lanes. This includes children going to school, Churston Gramma School. At the moment you have no route apart from rushing to a car and when you use this, there is limited car parking space. Children are told that its too dangerous to go to school by bike!
The solution is already there, there is a route that would provide a backbone between the utilities and attractions of Brixham and Churston.
We are currently writing a proposal to Lord Churston, the current land owner, after ownership reverted, when the line was closed. The project is a win win situation, all businesses and community will benefit by using this dormant land, which holds some of the most valuable industrial heritage within the bounds of Brixham and Churston.
The churston estate would come alive and offer potential within the agricultural use and the wider community. The need to jump in the car would be removed as an ecoroute would be provided by the old railway.
The good will from the town, when the project starts would be immense. We can talk about the regeneration of the town, but without a coherant eco-route, we would have no way of providing safe routes of passage. The Brixham Railway, the Brunnel Project, provides the way forward.
The project is a community project and please do vote for it. The vote is for progress and the future of the next generation.
